I walk around Rhonal making sure he is behind me, i Attcka with my Dwarven Waraxe
What? walk around O.o? to where? It would be more helpful to indicate the space you end in. Also, if you have your back to rhonal, there's no orc in front of you. Right now Rhonal is in the space in front of you lying on the ground, and there's also an orc in that space.

ok, here's a visual explaination (from your point of view)
Image

note: oh yeah! specify your targets too please!. In addition to "I attack..." say, "the orc with the greataxe" (or whatever). I'll start assigning the enemies numbers if I have to.

well i guess in tht case,. ill turn around and attempt to stabilize Rhonal...it'd be a shme to have a casualty this early in the game.

O.o you know that provokes an attack of opportunity and that he's likely to stabilize himself right? That's why I described action points. Are you sure your turn wouldn't be better spent dealing damage?

btw - jae. the dark bros's dark mother has incapacitated their pc's. so. i called blank and told him your post. he says he's confident that his dex will keep him alive and he will indeed stabilize me for his turn.

i'll post what he says until he can use his comp again.

k, let's roll the attack of opportunity...

>.< (just be glad the axe has a low crit rate)=hit
damage=13

"Merrak crouches down to help Rhonal, the orc with the axe takes advantage of the opening and swings at Merrak. The blade bites deeply into his shoulder and narrowly misses taking his neck off instead."

aaand that puts Merrak at neg 4... you guys are getting owned by grunts! They're level 1 warriors with 1/2 normal gear! XD maybe you're underestimating their ability to hit things with large sharp objects? Stop underestimating the crazy strength score orcs have XD

of course, maybe the two attack rolls of 19 helped... that might be it.

questions: it was a while ago before I prepared any spells, can I prepare some? and how many am I allowed to prepare?

ok, you're a level one wizard so you have the following spells per day
3 level 0 spells (cantrips)
1 level 1 spell

your intelligence of 18 gives you one bonus 1st level spell. You already cast one magic missile from your prepared spells (I think the rest were from the wand).

that leaves just the 3 cantrips and 1 level 1 spell left. We can say your character already prepared them. You can make your own list of prepared spells, and I'll let your character use them. Here are some good options...

level 0 (cantrips)
acid splash
detect magic*
ray of frost*
light
mage hand*

level 1
cause fear
color spray*
charm person

the *s are what I'd prepare. You have the wand if you wanna cast magic missile and Dracoth has sleep so you don't need to prepare that. The level 1 spells I listed are all resisted by will saves (orcs have crappy will saves) and have pretty useful effects. Cause fear will make one target run screaming for a few rounds (maybe not the best thing if you don't want people to know you're here). Charm person will make one target think they're a good friend for 1 hour (but it's more likely to fail if you cast it after combat has started). Finally, color spray is the crazy status effect spell. It affects everyone (including allies) a 15 ft cone and gives them crazy status ailments if they fail their will saves (unconsciousness, stun, and blind).

oh yeah, it your turn too. your wand looks like a good choice since it can't miss and such. you can do that and save whatever spell(s) you prepare for a big battle (you have two party members down, but there are still just two grunts)

I thought of these

level 0 (cantrips)
- daze: creature loses next action
- ray of frost: 1d3 (1-3) cold damage
- detect magic: detects spells/magic within 60 ft

level 1
- summon monster I: call outsider to fight for you
- cause fear: 1 creature flees for 1d4 (1-4) rounds *

* = rather have this one

action:

I move a bit back to a distance where I can still cast magic missile, casting it at the orc that is/was standing on rhonal.
