Today marks the launch of AMD’s Radeon HD 7950 high-end graphics card. It follows the heels of AMD’s Radeon HD 7970, which was released earlier this month. The Radeon HD 7970 reclaimed AMD’s single GPU crown, as it outperformed nVIDIA’s high-end single GPU, the GeForce GTX 580, in almost all gaming benchmarks.<\/p>\n

The release of the Radeon HD 7950 adds additional pressure onto the GeForce GTX 580. Most reviews show the HD 7950 to be extremely competitive with the GTX 580, with the HD 7950 either matching or ending up slightly faster than the GTX 580. In terms of specs, the HD 7950 is a slightly cut down version of the HD 7970, as it has 1792 shader cores (versus 2048 in the HD 7970), 112 texture units (versus 128 in the HD 7970), and reduced core and memory clocks.<\/p>\n
