Fallout 3 - "Oblivion with Guns"
Damn, a lot of great games are coming out this month. The latest iteration of the Fallout series, Fallout 3, will be released next week for the PC, XBox 360 and PS3. For those that are unfamiliar with the Fallout series, it is a RPG adventure series that takes place in a post-nuclear future setting.
Bethesda (developer of The Elder Scrolls series) developed Fallout 3 and reportedly uses the same game engine as TES IV: Oblivion. The game has already received high marks, with a lot of reviewers saying that Fallout 3 is basically "Oblivion with guns".
More details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_3
I'll definitely be picking up Fallout 3, along with Far Cry 2. Anyone else planning on getting Fallout 3?

I didnt like fallout 1, that phy forced me to play. maybe because the fighting system sucks imo .
I might get fallout 3, but only after I have seen some trailers and ingame movies .

Re: Fallout 3 - "Oblivion with Guns"
I played Fallout 3 this weekend and I gotta say that it's a pretty awesome game. Considering that the game uses the exact same game engine, F3 really does play similar to Oblivion, as the combat, character editing, quest format, exploring, and conversation options are very similar. With all the similarities, it almost feels like this game is a overhauled, Oblivion mod.
However, there are some unique features to F3, such as the VATS system, which allows you to lock on to an enemy and target specific parts of their body. By doing so, you can cripple certain parts of their body (i.e. legs, arms) in order to reduce the enemies' mobility.
Since Bethdesda says that the game is about 100+ hours long, I guess I'll be spending some time with this one.

The weapons range from pistols, guns, semi/fully automatic guns, rocket launchers, mini-nukes, mines, baseball bats, hammers, and some swords. As for armor, they're mostly clothing that you would expect to see in a post-nuclear fallout period. There are also "power suits", which offer far more radiation protection than regular clothing can offer.

Re: Fallout 3 - "Oblivion with Guns"
I have a friend who's in love with the Fallout series. He forced me to play 3 last night (not that it was very hard) and I'm definitely going to have to pick it up once I clear some other games out of my "to play" list.

I've bought but not started Halflife 1, Beyond Good & Evil, RE 4, Megaman X Collection, and Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

With last month's release of Fallout 3, Red Alert 3, and Far Cry 2, (combined with all the other games I've haven't beaten yet) I think I will be a bit busy for a while. :p
