We were on our way to a nearby city called Nulloth. You can keep Fluffy if you like but he still wants to kill you. Wait, nvm. You can't keep him because he's not yours ^^p You can try convincing Leena maybe.

hmmmm more die rolls are called for.
[dice=20]+12 = 28 (she saw it O.o)
[dice=20]+? = interesting...

Leena walks back up to the next sack she was going to search with a new sense of determination. It looks pretty much like that last one, a sack of grain that's been nibbled through. If you pay attention it's oddly lumpy though... Leena reaches to open it when she suddenly pauses and stands back up.

"There's something in there" O.o

The sack's not unusually big so whatever's inside isn't going to be very big. React if you like.[rand=7919793148023777525769962834018461624495042350347269731031055037]

Posting as a player only (because I'm giving our other two players more than 30 minutes to respond)

Leena cautiously leans down and opens the bag O.o
I'm gonna roll initiative just in case it becomes important
[dice=20]+5 = 25

I like iiiiiit >3

edit: craaaaap this roll doesn't count because of how we're doing initiative now T.T[rand=9870378433716137075582639040414967407599009381344126478407165626]

Be good or I'll castrate you. >.< Anyway nobody else seems to want to act before things happen...

Leena cautiously lifts the open end of the sack and opens it. You hear an animalistic squeal as a giant rat leaps out of the bag and...
[dice=20]

misses the flee ***** XD

As soon as it hits the floor the rat runs with impossible speed. It ends up between the two casks on the wall at the top of the map.
[dice=20]
rofl it's too fat and got stuck XD You take a split second to notice that it's unusually wide even for it's large size (it's slightly smaller than Fluffy).

Time for everybody to roll initiative. I've been thinking on how to speed up combat so I'm going to post some initiative stuff in the house rules thread.

I'm not sure where everybody is, but it's not extremely important because you can get almost anywhere in the room with a single movement.

aaaand repost map cuz we need it. Now with cheesy edits from Photobucket! (kinda handy I guess)

[dice=20]+3 =10
Oh great, a bad roll :P

edit: totaled it because I felt like it[rand=3369576265104115362049487885087733579502198845148682981763035059]

lol... You haven't seen bad initiative rolls till you've seen me irl. Every game I have the highest initiative modifier in the party but I go last in over half the combats because I usually roll a 2. There's something special about my initiative and 2s but I have no idea why. XD

ps: In case you missed it in the house rules thread, I came up with an idea to make combat move faster. Take your first round action at the same time you roll initiative (regardless of what initiative you roll).

Player post

noooooobody feels a need to react to the giant rat trying to bite me and running across the floor? lol My rat then!

Catgirl pounces! (move then attempt to grapple if you wanna use game terms =P)
touch
[dice=20]+7= 24 pwned ^_^

catch
[dice=20]+3= 12... I iz not a grappler

I think I caught it ^_^ *looks at grapple rules because they're way too complex* Oh hey, if that worked I injured it too. I think sneak attack applies because it was trying to squeeze through a space so I'll include that...
[dice=3]+[dice=6]+1= 7

DM post
Yes, it's stuck so it can't make an attack of opportunity at the start of your grapple and takes sneak attack damage. You dealt just enough damage too. You jumped on it's ribs and knocked it out.

[tutorialmode]Grappling is for any form of extremely close combat where you're in constant combat with your foe. Unfortunately it's one of the most complex actions in combat >.< It's useful if you want to restrain your opponent so they can't run away. Some characters specialize in it as a way to deal damage because grappling works differently from normal combat which makes it highly effective against some targets. The (painfully complex) rules can be found here [link] [/tutorialmode]

lol... Leena caught a dire rat... I swear I didn't plan that. It's just a convenient enemy to throw in any situation to reduce boredom... or introduce loot. ^_^

Now that it's not moving, you can see a small gold trinket tangled in the rat's fur. It's a charm like what you'd put on a bracelet or necklace. It's shaped like the sun coming over the horizon. Seeing it makes you think of the rat's odd burst of speed after trying to bite Leena (it really shouldn't have been able to move like that).

So much for that encounter... Anyone gonna act now? I feel like I'm talking (typing) to myself again T.T[rand=84180984073481219834245847128004100312505634131335731856757021974]

You could be disgusted at the rat? XD lol We're almost out of stuff to do anyway. Counting generously, there are 7 places that haven't been examined yet.

"err. umm. At least I didn't bite it! ^^' Some people I know would have... I get the trinket ^^p you can see it" *drops the rat on the table* (It was probably a really dirty table anyway) "I'm gonna go check something now..."

I wanna look at those barrel things and anything behind them next. btw who suggested we keep the rat? Crazy voices in our heads >.< I dun wanna keep this.

DM stuff
It's an average dire rat. They're uncommon but you've seen them before. This particular rat is obese. It's been living the good life for a while. Nothing else about it catches your eye.

I have some guesses, I'll have to check it out later though. I wanna finish searching for loooooot right noooooow >.<

btw who (other than me) has checked the door?

DM post
... It's been a while and you guys don't seem to have anything to do. I'll hurry up and finish this bit.

Leena finds a rat nest in a small alcove behind the barrels (which just seem to have water and weak ale respectively). You find another trinket, this one's made of blown glass and is shaped like a tiny flower. You also find an oil of magic weapon (makes one weapon magical for one minute), 30 gp, a small gem that looks like fell out of a piece of jewelry (worth ~20 gp) and several pieces of silverware (worth ~3 gp).

If you want to call anything specific go ahead and call it. All the stuff that's only good for selling is usually split evenly after we get someplace to spend it (eg. town).
