Microsoft Offers Free Windows Home Server (120 Day Trial)

Post by Yoon »

For those that are in the U.S., Microsoft is offering free copies of Windows Home Server, which have a 120 day trial. For those that are unfamilar with Windows Home Server, you can read about it in it's Wiki entry here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Home_Server

It's essentially a stripped down version of Windows Server 2003, designed for home uses, such as automated backups of all Windows XP and Vista computers, as well as file and print server features. You can order up to three copies, with no shipping charges at all. Order link is below:

I ordered two of 'em; probably will give it a try later.

Microsoft has now made the WHS 120-Day Trial available for download:

It's definitely worth trying out if you have an extra computer and are thinking about solutions for file serving and backing up your Windows-based computer(s).
