forum cleaning?

I tought maybe its an idea to clean the forum a bit.
we have a very lare forum but i find that it makes the forum a bit hard to navigate somethimes.
with the manny subforums, an topics make it hard to find something.

So i tought maybe its an idea to remove some things that are no longer used, and realy old topics.
or archive the old topics and no longer used subforums, so that the forum we use stays "clean"

For example the WOW subforum has last been posted, in 2008. so nobody uses that annymore.
also we have lots of old RO topics and subforums. so i tought maybe its an idea to clean some things up.

I just tought of this, maybe its an option?

wel maybe for you. but if you compare the forum how it is now to the old archived forum.
the old one was a lot more readable.

I find the archived forum a lot more easy to navigat trough.
the online RPG part has like 15 sub forums. Off witch only a few are used.
Some are from guilds that are long gone. some are from games we hardly play
(WOW-topic hasn't been posted since 2008)

If i wana post something about RO i have no idea where in the 15 subforums to post.
and also if somene tells me to look at a post. it takes me lots of time just to find it.

I posted this in administartor only part. so that not evyerone is gonna say if they do or do not like it.
I just like to hear the admin's toughts on it. and i realy thing it would improve the forum to make it bit more accesible again.

I dont see the use in having a huge forum if a lot of subforums have not been used for over a year.
Then we could might as well remove them. thats my vision on this annyway.

Its not so difficult for us, who have been using the forum for a long time to find threads. But, for anyone new, there is like, a million sub-forums and even more threads to search through. And no one is going to know where to start!
What the problem is, many sub-forums are useless now and are only used to view old threads. This being said, maybe it would be beneficial to archive some of the older portions of the forums? Don't know, just throwing that idea out here.

Only hard thing here is, in my opinion, the general forums.
And wow topic is only 1 subforum... >.<

Online has only 2 subforums and 1 of those got many subforums which is rangarok online.
Which of those subforums would you really delete or archive?
Atm I think that only DT forums and WTF forums could be archived.

Renaming and merging some General forums would be nice too.

Thanks for your insight everyone. I agree that the forum layout needs to be re-organized, as I agree that there are a bit too many sub-forums.

One idea is to merge some of the sub-forums together. For example, the 'Server News' and 'Events' in the 'Ragnarok Online' section could probably merged into a single sub-forum.

Another idea is to create a separate archives section and move the inactive forums into that section. Inactive forums like the old DT, WTF, Dungeons & Dragons sub-forums could be moved into this section.

Another option is to move the 'Ragnarok Online' section outside of 'Online RPG Worlds' and have it's own place on the main forums area (similar to how the old ProBoards Y-Corner), since the Ragnarok Online section is quite massive.

A combination of the three ideas could also be implemented as well. In any case, which ever option would work best, the forum layout will definitely be changed soon to make it more easily readable and accessible.

Alright, I've begun re-organizing the sub-forums by merging some sub-forums together, re-organizing several out-of-place threads into their rightful locations, as well as minimizing the amount of sub-forums that appear in the forum legends.

It looks slightly cleaner and less cluttered than before, but I may make more changes to simplify the forum navigation.
