Introducing the New Y-Corner, v3.0!

Post by Yoon »

As I'm sure you have all noticed by now, the forum has undergone a massive transformation. The forum has a new look, a couple of new features, as well as a new name! This massive change has been planned for quite some time, and it wasn't until now that I was able to complete the transformation!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT: Some of these new features use some of the latest Internet code. Make sure your Internet browser is up to date or it MAY NOT WORK OR SHOW PROPERLY!

For Microsoft Internet Explorer Users: If you are using Internet Explorer 5.5 and earlier, please upgrade to either Internet Explorer 6 SP1 (98/ME/2000) or Windows Internet Explorer 7 (XP/2003):
Interne t Explorer 6 SP1
Windows Internet Explorer 7

For Mozilla Firefox Users: Upgrade to 1.5.1.0 or higher. Download the latest Mozilla Firefox (currently 2.0.0.2) here: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.2.

Please note, if you still do not see any massive changes to the forum, you should check the following:

1.) Clear your Internet history and cache, or "Reload" the page.
2.) Change your default forum Skin to "V-Corner." You can change your skin by going to "Profile" -> "Modify Profile" -> "Select Skin" -> "V-Corner"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First things first, the forum name, "Yoon's Corner," has changed to "Y-Corner." There are a few reasons why the forum name has been changed:

1.) Y-Corner will have a somewhat different outlook compared to the previous versions of Yoon's Corner.
2.) There are some significant changes compared to previous versions of Yoon's Corner.
3.) Y-Corner is a more neutral name compared Yoon's Corner.

In regards to the new forum style, the graphics were mostly inspired by the retail version of Windows Vista, as well as the menus from Final Fantasy VI. :) Hopefully, everyone will like the new look, as I spent some time into developing it.

If you do not like the new forum style, you can revert to the previous version (or other older styles) by selecting "Profile" -> "Modify Profile" -> "Select Skin" -> "Yoon's Corner (2006)". Please note that since this was a significant forum update, the older styles may have some unusual bugs or layout issues.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHANGES FROM v2.0:

NEW FEATURES
:

1.) Shop Feature: Now you can actually do something with that Zeny! Click on the Shop icon above to buy some weapons, armor, items, cards, etc. from the world of Ragnarok Online! At the moment, there is only a small selection of weapons, but I will be adding many more things into the shop as time goes by. I will explain more about this new feature in another thread later.
2.) Staff Now Have Ranks: A long requested feature, now the forum staff have their level ranks displayed just like everyone else! :)
3.) New Info Board: The new Info Board has a more organized, neat layout. Unfortunately, this new board does not display birthdays or calendar events. You must manually check the Calendar to check this information.
4.) Sub-Sub Boards: Thanks to Cr0w, a coder over at the ProBoards Support forums, it is now possible to create limited sub-sub forums! With this new feature enabled, I have moved the War of Emperium Strategy Council (formerly War of Emperium Strategy Room) into the Dominating Twins Guild Discussion, as a sub forum.
- This feature isn't working for Internet Explorer users (only reported to be working correctly in Mozilla Firefox, so until a fix can be found, the War of Emperium Strategy Council and the Events sections will be moved outside of the Dominating Twins Guild Discussion section.
5.) New Guild Events Forum: A new sub forum for the Dominating Twins Guild Discussion section has been created. This section will host all threads about past, current, and future DT guild events.
6.) Increased Avatar Size Limit: The maximum avatar size has been increased to 200x200.
7.) PBv4 Mini-Profile Tables: PBv4-style tables have been added to the mini-profile! The Mini-Profile layout will appear more organized with this new feature.

FEATURES CHANGED OR REMOVED:

1.) HP, SP, and the Level Bar has been removed from the Mini-Profiles. This is due to a code incompatibility between the new "Shop" feature the "RPG" feature.
2.) Alignment, Praise, and Slap have reverted to the default Karma, Exalt, and Smite phrases. This is due to a formatting bug with the new "Shop" feature. This may or may not be fixed.
3.) Staff and member names are no longer bolded. This is because you now have to "purchase" this feature from the Shop. Visit the Shop and buy the "Username Bold" feature, which is only 100 zeny.
4.) War of Emperium Strategy Room has not been deleted. It has simply been moved into the Dominating Twins Guild Discussion section and has been renamed to "War of Emperium Strategy Council."
5.) The Quotes feature (the quote underneath avatars, not the quoting function in the threads) is no longer available. This is because the Shop feature uses that line to store all your store data in that line. It will briefly show gibberish and then vanish once the page is completely loaded. The gibberish text will show in the Preview Message, however.

There may also be some forum bugs with this new version. If you find a bug, please report it to me so that I can try to fix it. Feel free to give some feedbacks (if love it/like it/hate it, give a reason why) here about the new forum version.

Thank for describing that WoE thread... I was seriously lost!

What can we do with weapons, armor, and items? Are they just for show, or will we be able to "battle" someone in the near future?

I like it as well, nice work, Mike!

I can't get to the shop. I click it, and it sends me to a new page, but nothing opens up...

Ah, I know the reason why the new Shop feature is not working for some people. I have tested out the Shop feature on Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 and both browsers seem to run into problems loading the new feature.

This problem does not occur on Mozilla Firefox, as the Shop feature is fully functional in that browser. I will look into this problem and try to get it working.

As for those looking for where the WoE section went, please look at this picture to get an idea:

Great news! I found out what exactly was causing the Shop not to load for Internet Explorer 6/7 users and fixed it. Now IE 6/7 users can use the Shop function! :)

Dan: o.O Hmm, that's really odd. It looks like when you clicked the shop button, it tried to look for a user named 'NaN' instead of KillerSmo. Just curious, but are you using the latest version of Firefox? You can check for updates by going to the top menu bar and selecting "Help" > "Check for Updates..."

Dan & phy: As for battle features, nothing like that is implemented, so it's basically for show at this point.

Unfortunately, quotes no longer work with the new shop feature, as that jumbled garbage text you see is actually data for the Shop. That garbled text should vanish as soon as the page is fully loaded. Is it vanishing after the page has loaded 100%?

EDIT: I do know that the garbled text will show if you do a thread preview, but other than that, it should vanish (after loading 100%) everywhere else.

EDIT 2: Dan, about the "User NaN does not exist" problem, I guess that problem shows up if you use an older version Mozilla Firefox, particularly versions 1.5.0.9 and earlier. Upgrade to either 1.5.1.0 or higher and it'll work fine.
