Today marks the 30th anniversary of Pokémon! The original Pokémon games, known as Pocket Monsters in Japan, were released for the Game Boy in Japan on February 27, 1996.
I can’t believe Pokémon is now 30 years old! As a kid, I remember picking up and playing Pokémon Blue for the Game Boy back in September 1998, when Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue were released in the U.S. I chose Squirtle as my starter Pokémon, and I still remember the excitement of trying to catch all 150 Pokémon.
In celebration of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary and Pokémon Day, The Pokémon Company released a new Pokémon Presents video on YouTube featuring the latest Pokémon news and announcements.
